Raquel García-Tomás

Raquel García-Tomás is a composer specialising in interdisciplinary creation who completed her doctorate at the Royal College of Music of London. She was awarded the Premio Nacional de Música (National Music Award) in 2020. Her projects include collaborations with the English National Ballet, the Royal Academy of Arts, the Dresdner Musikfestspiele and the multi-awarded opera 'Je suis narcissiste'. Recently, Raquel premiered 'Alexina B.' in the 2022/23 season at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Barcelona. This opera, awarded the Leonardo Grant of the BBVA Foundation and nominated for the International Opera Awards as Best World Premiere, was created with librettist Irène Gayraud and stage director Marta Pazos.

“Las constelaciones que más brillan” premiered in Germany and Sweden during the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra's European tour, conducted by Ludovic Morlot.The concerts were held at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg on April 4 and the Konserthuset in Stockholm on April 6.

“Las constelaciones que más brillan,” a new orchestral work by Raquel García-Tomás, was premiered on March 15, 2024, at L’Auditori de Barcelona, under the baton of Ludovic Morlot. The piece had further performances on March 16 and 17 at the same venue.
